The Gujarat University was formed in the year
1949 by the passing of the Gujarat University Act of the state government for
the provision of educational facilities in the state of Gujarat. The university
is an affiliating one with over 235 colleges attached to it. Apart from this
the university has 15 recognized institutions, 24 approved institutions, 34
post graduate departments and 221 P.G. Centres.
One of the unique features of the university
is the system of external examination held for the Faculty of Arts &
Commerce in order to provide for the education of those students who can’t
afford the expensive education. The university is one of the largest
institutions to provide for the educational facilities to the state.
Gujarat University courses are varied ranging
from under graduate programs to post graduate courses in a number of
disciplines available under different university departments. The university
not only offers the regular degree programs in UG, PG, Diploma, Certificate and
Doctorate levels but it also provides a study abroad program.
Gujarat University Examinations are held in
the month of October-November. There is a system of semester based
examinations. The dates are announced online and the admit cards are also
available online. The candidates appearing in the examinations are required to
download their admit cards from the university website.
