The Govt. of Assam in accordance with NCTE regulation has
amended Assam Secondary Education service rules to fix the qualification
standards for aspirants that are interested to teach in secondary schools of

Eligibility Details:
Candidates holding Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/ Science or
Arts with a BT or B.Ed degree.
Score of Fifty percent marks is necessary. For updates visit

For Hindi Teachers, candidates with BA with Hindi/
Pravin-Ratna in Hindi are applicable.
Candidates holding BA with Sanskrit or Shastri with fifty
percent marks in related field are eligible to apply.
Teachers applying for Assamese and Manipuri Language should
have scored fifty percent marks with required degree.
Similarly for Arabic, Urdu and Persian, fifty percent marks
with the required degree are compulsory.
To pass the Teacher’s Eligibility Test, General candidates
have to score sixty percent marks and fifty five percent marks by other
category candidates.
Merely qualifying the test, does not entitle the right to
get employment; the test is only a prerequisite to apply for teacher’s
