UPSC is responsible to conduct exam of CSAT every year.The following are the
services for which the CSAT exam holds:
1.
IAS or Indian Administrative Service
2.
IFS or Indian Foreign Service
3.
IPS or Indian Police Service
Apart from above, there are major two
groups. Explained below:
Group A:
Indian Audit and Accounts Service/ IRS
(Indian Revenue Service) (Income Tax ,Customs and Central Excise)/ IAAS
(Indian Audits & Accounts Service)/ IRTS (Indian Railway Traffic
Service)/ Indian Postal Service/ IRPF (Indian Railways Protection
Force)/ IRAS (Indian Railway Accounts Service)/ CISF (Central
Industrial Security Force)/ IIS (Indian Information Service)/ IDAS
(Indian Defense Accounts Service)/ IDES (Indian Defense Estate Service)/
ICAS (Indian Civil Accounts Service)/ IA &AS (Indian Audit & Accounts
Service)/ IOFS (Indian Ordnance Factories Service)/ IRPS (Indian Railway
Personnel Service)/ IP&TAFS (Indian Post & Telecommunication
Accounts and Finance Service)
Group B:
Customs Appraisers’ Service Group
B/Pondicherry Civil Service Group B/ Central Secretariat Service, (Section
Officer Grade)/ Armed Forces Headquarters Civil Service Group B (Assistant
Civilian Staff Officer Grade)/ The Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands,
Lakshadweep, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli Civil & Police
Service Group B.
Eligibility Standards:
Age: Applicants must be 21 years old and
not exceeded to 30 years as on 1 Aug, 2013.
Education: Applicant must
possess the Graduation degree from the University. Final year of Graduation
students can also apply.
Nationality: Indian/ Subject of
Nepal or Bhutan.
Number of Attempts: 4 attempts for open
category, 7 attempts for OBC and no bar for SC/ST candidates.
Key Dates for the CSAT Exam:
Date of Preliminary Exam of CSAT: 26 May, 2013
Date of Mains Exam of CSAT: 01 Dec, 2013
The exam date of Mains Exam can be
altered.
Application Charges: Rs100/-
Nature of CSAT Exam 2013:
1.
For Preliminary Exam: There will be two mandatory papers of multiple
choice types and each paper carries 200 marks.
2.
For Mains Exam: Qualified candidates in Pre Exam are entitled to appear
in the Mains Exam.

Indian Languages – 250 marks

English -300 marks

General Studies-1(Indian Heritage and Culture, History and Geography)-250marks
4.
General Studies (3 papers) - each paper has 250 marks

Any Two Optional Subjects- 250marks each
6.
Personality Test: 250 marks
